Graceland

November 15th, 2010 § 2 Comments

This past summer I went on a road trip to Texas with a friend. On the way we passed through Memphis and decided to make a stop at Graceland. The area its nestled in is not what you would expect, having strip malls and fast food restaurants. I thought it would end up being in an upscale neighborhood, but I guess the area just changed over time to match the needs of Graceland: which is a huge tourist attraction. Here are some photos:

Enjoyed your pictures – when I drove past Graceland a number of years ago, I was really surprised by how small the front gates were — every picture I had seen of them always made them look so large! It’s just like the Welcome to Vegas sign that’s always shown — mini.

Yes, it definitely was not what I was expecting! I thought it was going to be in a very different neighborhood than it was! In fact, I think I drove past Graceland and had to turn around.
